I had Mr. Waring as my grade 7 teacher at Glen Lake Elementary in 1994. He was an amazing teacher and person. I was fortunate enough to have him be my wedding photographer in 2008. I will never forget him. My thoughts are with his family. This truly is a great loss to all who knew him.
Heartfelt condolences to Kathy and family. So saddened to hear of Ted’s passing. He was such a cheerful, vibrant man. I taught with Ted for many years at Lakewood School and his tireless efforts for Staff, students and community were inspiring He was a leader in Technology with Mr. Potter and the school’s performances with Mr. Duchene and Mrs. Panton. He took all the pictures of sports teams and celebration of learning photos with the student, teacher and Principal for years. He photographed my son’s wedding as well as took our family pictures. He will be so missed. Big hugs to Kathy and family.
Our deepest condolences to the Waring family. Ted was an amazing teacher to our children both at Millstream Elementary and Lakewood Elementary. He loved his photography, was enthusiastic and an inspiration to those around him. He will be missed!
I worked with Ted at Lakewood, when it was a new school. His energy was admirable, and he was a person who devoted much time and energy to students in District 62. I particularly remember working on musicals with him, his appreciation of athletics, and outstanding work with the Salmon Enhancement Project.
My thoughts are with his family.

It takes a special person to teach the “unteachable”, but that’s what he did. I was written off by the time I got to him in Lakewood. Late 90’s. He not only taught me about school, he was our coach. The girls volleyball and basketball teams took constant wins with him cheering us on and coaching us. I learned more from him in the 10 months while he was my teacher than I did in the rest of my school years… Combined. And after I left Lakewood I never found a teacher who could teach me. I wound up leaving school in grade 9, knowing that I would never find anyone like him who could handle my extreme sass and wild attitude. He was such a special person and I have carried him with me over the years. I lost contact with him through my worst years, but ran into him in the barber shop on Goldstream a few years ago. I got to tell him all the changes I made and the wonderful life I had created. I learned he had retired and was loving every minute, just like he always did. He was over the moon happy hearing about the positive life I had made for my daughter and I, and the we spent time laughing and talking about old times. Myself, and the countless other kids he taught are better people because of him. He is, undoubtedly, the very definition of teacher and I will carry him with me forever. I am sure his family knows how special he is, but I wanted to share that. Mr Waring was THE teacher. The one we will all remember. The one that taught me things I will take with me, and teach my own kiddos. I was deeply saddened to hear about his passing, and was looking forward to seeing his finished book. My condolences to his many family and friends. There are not many human beings as amazing as he was. He taught the “unteachable” and I will forever be thankful for him.
Ted, Mr Waring to me, left a big impression on my life he taught me in grades 6&7. He was always there to help me and just so caring. In those 2 years I learned more than I realized from him. Such a good memory is when the whole class took a field trip to Seattle. Just one my best memories and knowing that he did that and was that person for so many others kids makes him an amazing teacher and man. RIP Mr.Waring.
So sorry to hear about this. Mr Waring as we always thought of Ted was our daughters grade 7 teacher at Glen Lake and the bond he forged was so deep that he was the photographer at her wedding years later. Ted was always a joy to speak with and this is a true loss to those in his circle.
Mr Waring as I knew him was an amazing man. He was my teacher in elementary. He brought us on some trips I never thought I would get to do. From basketball games to my first seattle Mariners game, an the seattle zoo. Over night sleepover at the aquarium. He took photos of the class whenever he could. In later years he did my older sisters wedding photos. I will always have fond memories. Condolences to the family
