  1. Dear Kathy and family,
I was fortunate to work alongside Ted at Glenlake Elementary. He was a leader the school could rely on. He had boundless energy and enthusiasm for children and they responded with respect and admiration. There was nothing that Ted did part way. In addition to his excellence in the classroom, he worked tirelessly on coaching students at a variety of sports, and on improving our understanding of technology. Lunch hour games ‘teachers versus students’ were among his favorite things. His legacy includes the mentoring of a number of student teachers. After I left Glenlake I was always pleased to see Ted in his other role ‘the salmon man’ on his visits to schools.
My deepest sympathies to the Waring family.

  2. Dear Kathy,

My memories of working with Ted at Glen Lake are as wonderful as they are uncountable. He was a marvellous man and a prodigiously talented teacher who was never at a loss for both inspired ideas and the cheerfully powerful energy to implement them with a brilliant panache unique to him. The pain of his loss will return from now on every time I think of him and the only compensation will be the smile that will inevitably follow because of those peerless memories. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time of deep sadness.

  3. I am so sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. My deepest condolences to you Kathy and to your family. Such a loss, he will be missed.

  4. Deepest Condolences to the family.
Mr. Waring was one of my favorite teachers ever. I was his student in Grade 5 & 6 at John Stubbs Elementary. He was also a wonderful band teacher. I fondly remember the band trips to different schools along with Mr. Spence. He was truly a great teacher.

  5. I’m so sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. I was lucky enough to have Ted as a mentor Teacher years ago, and was always happy to see him within the district and out in the community in the years that followed. He was the best of the best! He truly had a zest for Teaching and life. I learned so much from Ted (as I’m sure many did). I will remember Ted as a multi-talented, enthusiastic, joyful, and all around wonderful person. Sending my deepest sympathies to Ted’s family and loved ones.

  6. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Me. Waring was my 7th grade teacher at Glen Lake elementary back in the late 80s.
Such fond memories of Mr. Waring.
Much love and prayers to you all. Xoxo

  7. We were so sorry and shocked to hear of Ted’s passing. Ted and I had our hip surgery the same date last year and it was so nice to see him again after all those years. Because we had the same surgery date, we also had the same follow up dates. He was my daughter, Caren’s, photographer for her wedding 20 years ago. He was also our favourite teacher for my three children Michelle, Caren and Bill during his time at Glenlake. I spent a lot of time at the elementary school volunteering before I started work so I saw a lot of the staff.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Kathy and your whole family.
Pat, Michelle, Caren and Bill Kirk

  8. Dear Kathy, Andrew, Elizabeth, & Kaitlyn,

I was so very heartbroken when I heard about Ted’s passing. I worked with him at Lakewood from 2001 until he moved to John Stubbs. What an amazing educator. His energy & enthusiasm were never ending as no task was too big or small for Ted. He always completed them with that contagious smile! It was so obvious that he loved his job. His positive impact was felt by both the students he taught and the staff he worked with. Not surprising, the one thing that he loved more than his job was all of you. He was so proud of his family. I can’t imagine the void you are all experiencing. Please know how much he will be missed. This world was a little brighter with Ted in it.

  10. A life taken too soon. He will be truly missed.
I first met Ted in the middle 90’s while involved with Juab de Fuca Lacrosse. He became the go-to person for the team and individual photographs. He would go out of his way to accommodate any player who missed their designated schedule.
I was later to enjoy his company as an off-ice official with the Victoria Grizzlies and Victoria Royals as well as the Victoria Shamrocks.
My condolences to all the family.
