Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 58 on May 3, 2010. Predeceased by his father, Walter; brother, Walter; stepfather, Walter Hartman and father-in-law, Robert Elliott. Jerry is survived by his loving soulmate of 30 years, Marg Elliott, his pride and joy; son, Jason (Cathy) and his mother, Sophie Hartman. After graduating from Victoria High School in 1969, Jerry ventured to the big city of Toronto, Ontario, where he became the youngest manager of Dominion Stores. The family would like to thank Ken Davies, our rock; Stan and all the staff at Thrifty Foods; Bob and staff at Canadian Western Bank; Jerry’s best bud, John; Berta and the girls whom he adored. Thank you to all his friends and staff at the Great Canadian Casino. Jerry enjoyed his time playing cards with all of you! He will be dearly missed by all the family and friends in Ontario. Jerry I am glad you are at peace now. The fight is over and it is time to rest.

I had the pleasure of working with Jerry for two years when he was my manager at Quadra/McKenzie Thrifty Foods. Right from the first day that I met him you knew that he would support his staff. I grew as a person and also as an employee while working with Jerry. He supported me in my endeavour to improve and advance in the company, if it wasn’t for his guidance and helping hand I would not be in the position I am today.

You will be missed by myself, my family and the many people you touched while working at Thrifty Foods. Rest well my friend we will see you again.

My time spent with Jerry was short as we had only met a couple of times but just getting a chance to talk to him was a pleasure. He was the nicest and well mannered man I could ever meet. He will always be remebered in our hearts.

  • Joan Elliott

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered “come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

May the Memories of Jer keep him in our hearts always. Thinking of you guys…love you

    Marg,
I am sorry for your loss of such a wonderful person. When they say the good die young, they mean Jerry. In the short visit I had in B.C. he made an impression on me of kindness, good sense of humour, a good husband and father. I only wish I could be there for comfort to you. If you ever need a hand with anything please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    My thoughts are with you.
Take care and remember the hurt will fade but it will never leave.
    Laina

  • Angela

Jerry, I’m going to miss your dry sense of humour, telling me you sound just like Elvis or Jeff Healy when you sing (although you never proved it)! I hope you’ve found peace now and the pain is gone. Think of you often. Paige still plays with the doll you gave me over 20 years ago! XOXOXO
    Angela

  • Michelle Elliott

I will miss you Jerry…you were an amazing uncle. I am so happy I got to see you in January, you were still your funny and goofy self. That is something nothing or no one could ever take away from you.
You will always be in my heart and my memories…

    Love you
    Michelle
