Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 58 on May 3, 2010. Predeceased by his father, Walter; brother, Walter; stepfather, Walter Hartman and father-in-law, Robert Elliott. Jerry is survived by his loving soulmate of 30 years, Marg Elliott, his pride and joy; son, Jason (Cathy) and his mother, Sophie Hartman. After graduating from Victoria High School in 1969, Jerry ventured to the big city of Toronto, Ontario, where he became the youngest manager of Dominion Stores. He made many friends and lasting impressions, where ever he went throughout his life. He will be remembered by many young employees as a mentor. The family would like to thank Ken Davies, our rock; Stan and all the staff at Thrifty Foods; Bob and staff at Canadian Western Bank; Jerry’s best bud, John; Berta and the girls whom he adored. Thank you to all his friends and staff at the Great Canadian Casino. Jerry enjoyed his time playing cards with all of you! He will be dearly missed by all the family and friends in Ontario. Special thanks to the Palliative/Hospice Team for their kind care and support.

  7. Jerry I am glad you are at peace now. The fight is over and it is time to rest.

I had the pleasure of working with Jerry for two years when he was my manager at Quadra/McKenzie Thrifty Foods. Right from the first day that I met him you knew that he would support his staff. I grew as a person and also as an employee while working with Jerry. He supported me in my endeavour to improve and advance in the company, if it wasn’t for his guidance and helping hand I would not be in the position I am today.

You will be missed by myself, my family and the many people you touched while working at Thrifty Foods. Rest well my friend we will see you again.

  8. Margaret & Jason,
