NYKAMP, JUNE ANN (NEE GIBSON)
November 6, 1958 – July 13, 2009
Our beloved Ann passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospice, surrounded by her loved ones on July 13, 2009. She is survived by her loving parents, Norma and Stewart Gibson; her devoted husband and eternal friend, Erwin; her two beloved children, Monica and David; sister, Mary; brother, Robert and families. Ann was predeceased by her brother, Douglas.
Ann was born in Stephenville, Newfoundland but grew up in Dollard-des-Ormeaux – Montreal. She ventured to Calgary in 1975, where she met and married Erwin. In 1985 Edmonton became her home before moving to Victoria, which has been home since 1995.
“Annie” loved everything about living on “the Rock” (Victoria) and would often be heard saying she constantly felt like a tourist in Victoria. Her love for family, friends and life was passionate and she will be greatly missed. In the words of her favorite musical group “She is buying the stairway to heaven”.
Friends are asked to join with the family to celebrate Ann’s life at CHRIST CHURCH CATHDERAL, Quadra and Courtney Streets on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The Very Reverend Logan McMenamie officiating. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to either the Victoria Hospice Society or The B.C. Cancer Agency.

Please accept our deepest sympathies.
I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to Erwin and the rest of her Family. Ann was a great lady who will be sadly missed. I was lucky enough to have spent some time with her and Erwin last year in Victoria and will cheerish those memories, and of course the old Riverdale days with her for ever. I am sure all people who had the pleasure to meet her will join me iin saying she was first class! May she rest in peace on the Stairway to Heaven. Jim Labelle and Family.
Dear Erwin, and Monica & David:
I was shocked to see the obituary in the paper today for Ann. My most sincere condolences to you, Erwin, on the loss of your dearly loved wife, and to you, Monica and David, on the loss of your mother. I remember you all very well from your time at PCS.
May you experience a special sense of God’s presence and comfort during this difficult time, and may He grant you strength and courage to face the challenging days that lie ahead. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Hi Erwin,
So sorry to hear of Ann’s passing. It was good to know her; I remember the household groups we were together.
I hope to see you again.

Ann and I go back to our childhood days of Brownies at Westpark school and singing on the swings at Sandra park…I will always remember her big tire two wheel bike with the Ann license plate hanging off of the back seat…We met up again at the Riverdalehigh school reunion after many years…it was like time had stood still…she was the same wonderful person that I had remembered from so long ago…..I was deeply sadden to hear of her passing and I would like to express my deepest condolence to her family.

Erwin, Monica & David,
We are very sorry for your loss. Ann was a, fun, fabulous, caring person and someone we considered a friend. The type of friend that if you didn’t see her in a while, one look and you never missed a beat. The best type of friend. I always giggle when I think of Ann trying to tell a joke, cause she would laugh all the way though it and we would laugh harder at her telling than the punch line. I have many good Ann stories tucked away in my heart and I think of them often. My life is richer for having time with Ann in it.
Love, Cheryl and Brad Carter (Cory, Cole and Chase)
Our hearts are heavy. May God be near to you Erwin, Monica and David. Ann’s infectious smile lives on in my mind.

Erwin, Monica and David,
We can’t tell you how sorry we are for your loss. Jim and I have many happy memories of you and Ann and our many baseball games, trips, cocktails and antics.
We are sending our love and hugs to all of you.
Shannon, Jim and Kris
The one thing we will never forget was the very interesting taxi ride back to our hotel from the casino in Sequim WA with Ann and Erwin. We stuck Erwin in the front with one of the most ‘interesting’ taxi drivers we have ever come across. Still brings a smile to our face, especially when Frank tells the story. You will be sadly missed Ann but never forgotten. We enjoyed all those baseball trips we took with you. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nykamp family.
