Loran Mauthorne Knudson

Loran went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2015 at the age of 81 years.  He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 12, 1933.  He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; his sons, Loran F. Knudson of Victoria, Murray A. Knudson of Victoria, Miguel A. Knudson of Vancouver, Ronald R. Knudson of Victoria, Edward J. Knudson of Vancouver and his daughter, Damaris M. Galhon (nee Knudson) and her husband Mandeep Galhon both of Victoria.

Loran was an ex-navy man, born during a time when people were of strong character, will and perseverance.  He was an honest man, hardworker, traveller and loved life.  His family was the most important thing to him followed by his garden.  His strength, will and perseverance are what kept him with us all this time.  He will be truly missed.

Visitation will be held at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 2060 Haultain Street on Friday, April 17th at 1:30 pm with Father Alfred Alilio officiating.  Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.  Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the BC Cancer Foundation in his memory.  Flowers accepted as well.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. I am deeply saddened by this tragic news in the passing of such a fine, and genuine soul in Loran Knudson senior, a man with integrity and undeniable class…
My heart goes out to the Knudson family in this time of sorrow, and I offer my most sincere condolences and support to all. I have had the pleasure to know this family Knudson for 30 years and have also had to put up with the twins so I felt the frustration that this man endured for many years…. I enjoyed his conversation and sharing sarcasm and one liners with this man when our paths crossed many times throughout the years…
His family always came first and foremost and never complained during his battles with health issues as the years passed by…He was in my opinion, “old school” and never wanted to be fussed over….”tough as nails”…ex navy….He was blessed with a loving and caring wife and 6 children….wow!…a true family man.
It was indeed a pleasure to know this man for so long and I will most definitely miss him, his humor, his mere presence. He is happy now, at peace, running with the angels, planting seeds and tending to his gardens above the clouds.. I will never forget this man and its time to cherish his memory and celebrate his life and accomplishments…I always made him laugh, and for that, I am also at peace.
    sincerely

  3. I will always remember Mr. Knudson as a warm, kind and caring man. He possessed a strong will with equally strong convictions. He was a great judge of character and you knew exactly where you stood with him. I will always remember him out in the garden or around the dinner table, telling stories about Ron and the boys. He loved his family more than anything and I know they loved him in return. He will be missed but we can be thankful that he touched our lives. As a man, he set the bar very high.

  6. My father was the strongest man I have ever known. He never complained a day in his life and never asked for anything more than what he already had. In his eyes, he was the richest man in the world, with the family he had and the garden he had built. One can try be prepared as much as possible, but will never be prepared when the this time comes. One can be given notice or no notice at all and still you will never be prepared. If I can live my life simple like him, have strength and fight and love as much as him, then I think my life will be what it his was is in his heart. The best life ever!

In loving memory of my father! One could not asked for anything better.

    Love
    Damaris
