October 11, 1946 - July 15, 2024

Marlene peacefully went to heaven after a courageous three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was surrounded by her loving family and comforted by her deep Christian faith. She was predeceased by parents Hank and Mary Casilio. Survived by husband Doug, daughters Leanne (Ron), Marcy (Seb), son Scott (Margaret), and sister Patti. Also survived by her adoring grandchildren Matt (Gina), Josh (Lauren), Chris, Christian, Jonathan, David, Gilles, Jahniaa (Isaac), Hailesha, and great-grandson Ziah. Also, much loved and missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Born and raised in Victoria Marlene graduated from Mt. View High School in 1964 and from R.J.H. School of Nursing in 1968. She and her classmates carried enduring friendships, including many reunions. She enjoyed a long career as an R.N. at R.J.H. mostly in cardiac care.

Marlene and Doug met in high school and married in 1967. They enjoyed a beautiful life filled with family, love and faith. Following retirement, they spent many winters in Arizona with a tight knit friend group. Marlene was an avid tennis player, later taking on the sport of pickle ball. She and Doug travelled extensively. At home she loved to entertain and you could guarantee her meals were followed by many recipe requests. She enjoyed gardening but most of all the company of family, especially her grandchildren. She and Doug were usually in the stands cheering them on through various sporting events.

The family wish to thank Dr. Sarah MacEwan for her medical care, kindness and attention above and beyond. Marlene adored her.

  1. The Richardson’s lived behind our house on Union Road. Many great memories spending time at their home as their daughter Leanne was a friend of our family’s.I remember Leanne would get up to her shenanigans and Marlene would put her hands on her hips and just shake her head and say. ‘ oh Leanne!” Their home was an open door for all of us to gather at. Marlene now rests with her Saviour in peace in her forever home. Condolences to the family who she so dearly loved and surely will miss her greatly. It’s so very hard to loose your mother…. I know this to be true.

  5. Condolences to all Marlene’s family. She was a very special lady who spent her life caring for and loving others. It’s a comfort to know that she knew without a doubt that her new home would be in heaven. In her words, “God has a plan. It may not be mine but we know His plan is always better.” That’s the blessed assurance of a child of God. You will live on in the memories of all who knew you, Dear Marlene.
