Marlene peacefully went to heaven after a courageous three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was surrounded by her loving family and comforted by her deep Christian faith. She was predeceased by parents Hank and Mary Casilio. Survived by husband Doug, daughters Leanne (Ron), Marcy (Seb), son Scott (Margaret), and sister Patti. Also survived by her adoring grandchildren Matt (Gina), Josh (Lauren), Chris, Christian, Jonathan, David, Gilles, Jahniaa (Isaac), Hailesha, and great-grandson Ziah. Born and raised in Victoria Marlene graduated from Mt. View High School in 1964 and from R.J.H. School of Nursing in 1968. She and her classmates carried enduring friendships, including many reunions. She enjoyed a long career as an R.N. at R.J.H. mostly in cardiac care.

Marlene and Doug met in high school and married in 1967. They enjoyed a beautiful life filled with family, love and faith. Following retirement, they spent many winters in Arizona with a tight knit friend group. Marlene was an avid tennis player, later taking on the sport of pickle ball. 7. I had the pleasure of working with Marlene at Royal Jubilee hospital 4 Royal. I was working the night shift with 2 others, When the blizzard of 96 started. We were commenting all night long about how much snow was falling.
When morning came nobody seemed to be coming in. Radio stated it was near impossible to get around.I was walking down the hall when a snow covered figure came toward me.. A voice called out Good Morning! I replied Marlene is that you? Marlene had walked all the way from her home to the hospital . I could hardly believe it, we were so happy see her. Such consideration and dedication to her coworkers.
    Sincere condolences to her family.

  8. My heart is both breaking and filled to the brim with love and amazing memories. Whether it was at the pickleball courts or happy hour or a quick 7 hour shipping trip it was always filled with laughter. I remember her calling asking to borrow tables and chairs as they were having a dinner Saturday night. Then asking me to bring vegetables. I said sure, for how many and she responded 30. That was Marlene. My deepest condolences to Doug and your amazing family. We are all so much better for having her in our lives. Much love to you all.

  9. Marlene has been in my thoughts all week. A year ago she and Doug visited with us in Qualicum and we were looking forward to this year’s visit. When I was 22 I started dating Dave and he took me to Doug & Marlene’s for Christmas dinner where I was welcomed by the Richardson family, including Grandma Harriet and Nanny Mary. After that we spent every occasion including Christmas, birthdays, Police balls, and many Sunday brunches, together. Marlene was a wonderful hostess and great cook who welcomed everyone into her home and kitchen, while she calmly made a fabulous dinner. Over the years our numbers grew and Marlene and Doug welcomed my parents and our babies into their home. Marlene and Doug were the first up to the hospital when our babies were born and Marlene had a baby shower for me in their home. She was a wonderful sister-in-law to Dave and me and a wonderful Aunt to our daughters. We are thankful she was in our lives and we cherish the memories of our years together.

  10. Doug and family, I wish to extend my sincere condolences to you all.
What a comfort to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that one day you will be reunited again in Heaven with your beloved wife and mother.
I pray God’s peace and comfort that only He can give upon each of you.
    From cousin Janice
