  1. i met matt on my way to work every morning a few years back. I was working at the white spot off the highway. he was on his way to school and he would tell me his life story. funny how we met… i was standing there and he would look at me and want to talk. we ended up becoming good friends everytime we saw each other. we chatted so many times then i saw him at the library in esquimalt and we added each other on facebook. i just saw him a few weeks ago and i missed him getting off the bus. i wanted to say hello so bad because he was just a great guy to talk with. ill miss seeing him around R.I.P MY GOOD FRIEND…

We would Like to thank each and everyone of you for all your love and support , this has been a very difficult time for our families having to say goodbye to our precious Matt. Being surrounded and supported by so many of Matt’s loving family and friends has been a blessing during this difficult time of heartbreak and sadness. God bless you all.

  3. I was deeply saddened to read of Matt’s passing in the Times Colonist when I got home after my shift at BC Transit tonight. Matt was a regular passenger of mine when I operated the Community Shuttle and I always enjoyed having him onboard. I moved over to Conventional bus about two years ago so didn’t see him quite as often as I used to but recently picked him up on Keating X Road in Saanichton after one of his shifts at Sleggs. As always, he had a smile and a warm greeting for me which I appreciated. Some passengers simply make your day a little better for being onboard and Matt was always of those passengers. I am so sorry for your loss, my very sincere condolences to your family.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear this heartbreaking news and will miss Matt sooo much! We would always greet each other in the morning and he would always laugh and smile. At Stelly’s, we have four dependant girls. Matt was amazing with all of the girls. He used to take my student for a walk at lunch times. He would be so proud as he would wheel her through the halls introducing her to his peers. My student is nonverbal and has little response but this never bothered Matt. He would spend time with her stroking her hand or helping with the computer or pushing her around and dancing at music time. Matt was a big help to me and had a huge heart which showed with the girls. My heart hurts as it’s just so sad to think of him gone as he was so full of life in the four years he was at Stelly’s I got a chance to watch him grow and mature and there was such a change in him. It was an honour to know Matt as he was truly special. Teresa Shaw Stelly’s Sec (EA)

  5. Leah, Dan, Jim and family.
We were so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Matt was usually part of my group at fernwood for school trips, it was all about fun. He had a great smile. One of the world’s ‘gentle” souls. I hope all your memories will carry you all through this difficult time. God Bless to all.

  6. We will miss your wonderful smile Matt, you always seemed to have a way of brightening everyone’s day when you got on the bus. You were always so sweet to my kids, you will be missed.

  7. It’s hard to know just what to say,
When one so young is taken away.
Far too soon he had to part,
His memory forever engraved in our heart.

We only knew him for a short while,
But the life he led made us smile.
He was so handsome and oh so rare,
Life as they say just isn’t fair.

Those gone before him will watch him with care,
Till the day comes when we’ll all join him there.

Know Matt is watching from heaven above,
And with each ray of sunshine, he’s sending his love.

  8. My deepest condolence for the family and friends of Mathew Harvey. I will truly miss seeing his big friendly smile and wave as I drive up to the 50 stop at Uptown. Mathew was always a treasure to have on and I always found myself looking forward to hearing all the exciting things Matt was looking forward to. I’ll never forget how big his smile was when he got on my bus and showed me his new Ipad that he had gotten for his birthday. For the entire trip he explained all the cool things he could do with it including taking pictures.

Matthew, I;m so glad I got to be a small part of your life, you have definitely made a huge impact on mine and I didn’t even know it till now. Many blessings on a safe trip home to our heavenly father, you will be greatly missed! xoxo

  9. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I enjoyed his friendly and outgoing personality and I know that he will be missed at Stelly’s. I will miss him a lot.

  10. I didn’t know Matt outside of my job, I work for Apple in the Uptown Future Shop. He has been coming into the store for a long time now, he was always full of energy and excited to look at the new Apple products and ask me about what products are coming next. I was shocked to learn of his passing today, he was in the store just a few days ago looking at cases for his new iPod Touch.

Matt you are in my prayers. When you saw me around town you would always say “Hi Apple Guy”. You’ll be missed from the entire crew at Future Shop, Rob
