Matthew Thomas Sullivan-Dyson

May 18, 1989 – April 14, 2017

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our Beloved son Matthew. A budding photographer with a unique lens through which to see his world, Matthew saw beauty in everything…and everyone.

Matthew loved documentaries and deep philosophical conversations. His eyes lit up at the thought of playing chess with his “old man” and he was exuberant when he won his first game against him. Matthew spoke quite often of cooking with Ana in the kitchen and how magnificent her food was. Matthew was also a self-proclaimed “mamma’s boy” who was never shy to proudly introduce her to his friends.

As the saying goes, “…it takes a village to raise a child…” and all who knew him loved Matthew so dearly.

Matthew is survived by his father Ron; mother(s) Teresa & Ana; brother Jamie, Glenn; his sisters Jamie & Carey; six beautiful grandparents – Oma & Opa, Nanny & Grampy (Sherrie) and Grandma & Grandpa…as well his extended family and friends – too many to list here.

Matthew’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Victoria Event Centre at 1415 Broad Street on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please bring your happy memories of Matthew to share with one another.

May you Rest in Peace, Matthew. You have touched all of our lives in so many wonderful ways.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  1. I am beyond grateful and blessed to have been given the chance to meet a genuine human being….you aspired me to do better and try harder….I am saddened to think I don’t have you in my life anymore…and even more so for everyone else…

  2. Dear Matthew. My thoughts are with you on this special day. I wanted to day how much I appreciate your friendship and company. I’m glad we were able to get to know each other through the hundreds of events we had to set up for, or just setting up. I will always remember your corny jokes and the charming songs you would soon. Thank you for kindness, your patience and bringing good humour into any situation. You are missed deeply. All the best.

  3. The space between the tears is where I weep the most…Inside my heart I feel your touch…Today I look to the clear blue sky which reflects the colour of your beautiful eyes…I hope you can see past the angels glow that my love for you is as strong now, as when I held you for the very first time.. this 18th day of May, 28 years ago today. I miss you more than you can imagine my dear, sweet boy. I miss your smile and laugh, your gaze at me over the chess board, just your presence.I hope you touch every pedal in the endless feilds of white flowers I dream your in..You live in me forever…
    Happy Birthday my son…
Thinking of you more than ever today. So much love,
    Dad……

  4. Matt…we knew each other for years. Were always very friendly..even had some fun memories. But we didn’t really bond until last summer. Since then we talked fairly often. And I saw u out and about quite regularly. You were so kind and we both happened to be going through a hard time at the same time and it helped to share comfort in that we weren’t alone. U helped me and made me smile when I was sad. And last summer was one of the happiest memories I have. I’m sorry we never bonded sooner and I’m so thankful we had the short time we did. You will be missed.
