Robert Scott Stone

July 30, 1988 – May 1, 2013

Cherished and beloved son of Jim Stone and Judie Hosie. Big brother to Mac and Cam and a friend to many.

Scott was an athlete and adventurer. He grew up in Victoria and attended St. Mike’s and Oak Bay. Friends, family and sports were his passions. He excelled at soccer, rugby and lacrosse and played on many teams at all levels.

He surfed, fished, bungy jumped, sky dived, snow boarded and wake boarded; announcing his enjoyment with his loud, infectious and unique laugh.

Scott also lived in Australia and Africa where he became a safari field guide and pursued his fascination with animals.

Scott completed his life long dream of becoming a helicopter pilot.

Fly free Scotty.

You will be forever missed by family, friends and Bubba J.

A Lakeside Memorial service will be held at West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park on Tuesday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. You are welcome to share any memories or stories. Barbeque to follow at Camp Pringle.  Please bring your own lawn chair for the service and the reception.

  1. I will always remember meeting the group of beautiful energetic boys – of which Scotty was a leader – when David moved to St Mikes in grade 4. They never stopped moving and laughing. I smile when I think of the soccer games that were, to them, the equivalent of a World Cup match. And these took place every lunch hour!

Scotty will be forever imprinted in my memory as a sparkling little boy with a huge smile on his face and an wink in his eye.

My prayers are with you all.
    With love
    Jayne

  6. Jim, Judie, Mac, and Cam,

There are no words to express how sorry I am for your loss. I have a lot of memories of Scott but the thing about him that most strikes me now is how he was this big, tough lacrosse/rugby playing, spear fishing jock that was not afraid to hug his mom with such fierce love at the most unexpected times. I also have great memories of him as a young boy being so sweet to Sarah when she was just a toddler, demonstrating a tenderness that was engendered in him by his wonderful, loving family.
All my deepest condolences and love,
    Amanda

  7. To Judy, Jim, Mac, and Cam,
All of us have such wonderful memories of Scott, not only at SMUS but the many times he hung out with Al. His enthusiasm for life and warm smile will always be with us.
    With love and sadness,
Tricia, Alastair, Brittany and Andrew Crow

  8. Right from the first moment Scott walked into my PE class I knew this was a student with a charismatic presence. He laughed a lot, he ran non-stop, and he wanted to know if I thought he was faster than his brother, Mac! Scott, we have great memories of your time with us at SMUS Junior School.

To Jim, Judie, Cam and Mackenzie,
Please accept my deepest condolence for your loss. Scott was a great kid and I will never forget him.
    With love,
    Gary Barber

  9. Scott,
You were loved and adored by us all. You will always be with us Scotty.

  10. Scott…our beloved grandson….will always be alive…in our hearts.
We knew he loved us , because he was able to tell us this many times.
His laughter was contagious. I always wanted to fill a jar with a lid and open the lid to hear it again and again. I don’t have a jar but I have a memory and that laughter can still be heard.
We cherish the time that was good, that we had with him in his almost 25 years of life. We wish we had double that time, but Scott has made his mark and will be remembered with much love by family and friends.
    Grandma Marg and Granddad Bob
