July 30, 1988 – May 1, 2013
Cherished and beloved son of Jim Stone and Judie Hosie. Big brother to Mac and Cam and a friend to many.
Scott was an athlete and adventurer. He grew up in Victoria and attended St. Mike’s and Oak Bay. Friends, family and sports were his passions. He excelled at soccer, rugby and lacrosse and played on many teams at all levels.
He surfed, fished, bungy jumped, sky dived, snow boarded and wake boarded; announcing his enjoyment with his loud, infectious and unique laugh.
Scott also lived in Australia and Africa where he became a safari field guide and pursued his fascination with animals.
Scott completed his life long dream of becoming a helicopter pilot.
Fly free Scotty.
You will be forever missed by family, friends and Bubba J.

Dear Stone family, “When there are no words…know that the silences are carrying the thoughts and prayers of all who love you”. Scotty will always be in our thoughts, Sincerely Christy Jones
May you rest in peace, Scott. You are so well-loved. My thoughts are with your family during these difficult times.
HOW HIGH CAN A HELICOPTER FLY ?
I am big, I am strong,
I laugh with it all.
My friends fear it not
For up here I can be
Even more than I ever,
Ever, thought I could.
I can play all day,
All night if I wish.
Can hug my teachers
Cherish my friends
I can fly!
I see my world beautiful,
Rivers teaming with fish
Oceans alive with life
The smells and heats
Of Africa.
I can, up here, laugh
Laugh so loudly it can rain
I can dive and throw
And catch and run
All at once, all at once.
I can truly love my family
My friends, nature,
Every rich hour,
Of every day,
For eternity.
I will drink with you,
Play with you, laugh
Every happy moment
That you wish me to.
Look upward,
Smile and ask yourself,
How high can
A helicopter fly?
This is such a shock and so very, very sad. My deepest condolences go to you Judie, Jim, Cam and the rest of the family. My prayers are with you.
love Deborah
Judie,Jim,Mac and Cam I am so sorry for your loss.
I have known Scott scince he was 8 or 9 yrs old, he impessed me with his stick skills and endless energy(which never went away). I was lucky enough to have coached for 1 yr in Novice were we went to the Jack Crosby tournament where in a game with a team from Ontario be broke his collar bone, when I went to him he wasn’t crying but he was upset that he couldn’t play anymore that yr. He was a fighter. I also had him for his last 4 yrs in minor lacrosse. But I got to know him over the years before those last ones as he played on the same team as my son Reid. The best way I can describe Scott in my eyes was that he hated to loose, but he never carried it beyond the floor. He would do what ever it took to help his team win. He would score, he would help us score, he would check for you, he would dig for loose balls, he would create turn-overs. Most of all he knew it was about the team, he was a team guy, a leader, a friend, but most of all he was family. We will miss you Scott but you will forever be in our memories and thoughts. You are and will always be one of my kids.

I had the opportunity of playing lacrosse with Scott in our championship year. I only knew Scott for the one season but he made a great impression. He was truly a great person to be around and was always able to bring a laugh and a smile to all around. Ill never forget Scott and the great year he was in my life.

On behalf of the Junior Shamrocks Lacrosse Association I would like to express our deepest condolences. This is a great loss to the lacrosse community and all those who knew Scott. As Mr Waddell put it, he was a very big part of our run to the Minto but on the floor and in the Dressing Room where he lead his team mates.
We had a minutes silence at our Intermediate game on Sunday and will the same this Saturday at the Junior game in his honor.
Remember the good times!!
Sincerely
Rod Wood

Judie, Jim, Cam, Mackenzie & Bubs,
I only met Scott a few months ago when we were doing our helicopter license together. It was already mentioned, but his laugh filled the room and was something I’ll never forget. If “Bubs” could laugh, I bet it would be just as loud.
I remember when he finished his commercial helicopter flight test. The smile on his face gave it away, he was so happy to have accomplished his dream.
I talked to Scott last week and he was excited about the future. Scott was looking forward to the possibility of “flying with his old man” someday. Jim, I’ve never met you but scott will be with flying with you every day.
Having a passion for aviation, flying and being a pilot is something that is in your blood. It’s not something you choose to do, I believe it chooses you.
I’m sorry for your sudden loss, Scott will be missed. I’m thankfull that I was able to meet Scott.
Scott will fly free now, he’s gone flying……..

It is with sadness in my heart I write this. I was given the extreme pleasure of coaching Scott through out his Jr. A lacrosse Career. His drive and competitive spirit were unmatched and a big reason we made it to the national championship in 08. I think he taught me far more about fair play, sportsmanship, and humility, than I taught him about lacrosse. I always enjoyed seeing Scott after his Jr. playing days were over. He is a ray of sunshine. I will carry with fondness the memories I have of Scott and the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life. I am a better person for knowing him. It is an honor to call him my friend.
My deepest condolences to Jim, Judie, Cam and Mackenzie
May you rest in peace Scott.
YA BEAUTY!!
