Stuart was born in Victoria on May 22, 1941, and passed away very peacefully on August 28, 2026. He is survived by his wife Pat (Roberts), his son Bryan (Jody), his daughter Teresa, five grandchildren, and a circle of loved ones, including his reconnected daughter Sherry.
Stuart was very proud of being a James Bay boy. He went on to BCIT and UBC, graduating with an Engineering Degree. Clearly proving his high school teacher wrong about his educational ability. He travelled the world, working at times in his early travels, just enough to keep on travelling. Exploring and enjoying other cultures was his passion, and he managed to cover all seven continents in the process, sharing his love of travel with Pat throughout their marriage.
His engineering work took him to Africa and back to Victoria, where he spent many years with the CRD, and finally as Director of Engineering with the Municipality of Oak Bay.
At Stuart’s request there will be no service or celebration of life.
Remember the happy times you shared with him by having a coffee, or taking a walk, with friends.
Stuart will be deeply missed. Special thanks to Drs. Jennifer Maxwell, Marilynn Malone, Mitchell Drake, and MAiD House Victoria.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

We are sorry to learn of Stuart’s passing and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. He was a good man, always interested in the larger world, travelling, learning and adventuring. We have fond memories of times spent to together in Swaziland and of reminiscing about those times in later years. He will be missed.
Working with Stuart was always a pleasure and a learning experience.
His calm and positive outlook seemed ever present.
Memories of Mt. Washington ski trips and many lunches with Oak Bay Colleagues.
Complete with James Bay and World Travel Tales are treasured.
I was sad to hear about Stuart’s passing. When I chaired the CRD Environment Committee I got to know Stuart where he worked as an engineer. When Oak Bay was looking for a new Director of Engineering, as Mayor I was determined that we hire a professionally qualified engineer and I was very pleased when Stuart applied and was appointed to the position. He significantly contributed to improving the quality of the department’s work. Stuart was good to work with and I much appreciated his ability and impact.

Werkelijk een boeiende man. Hij heeft echt indruk op mij gemaakt.
Ik wens jullie als familie alle kracht toe nu jullie deze geliefde en markante persoonlijkheid moeten missen.

I am grateful for all the time I got to spend with my valued and treasured older cousin Stuart. I’m sure he’d be ok knowing when Silvana and I last met for dinner with he and Pat last January he was still doing very well, and we had good conversation.
Time is a scarce and valuable resource.
Dearest Pat and Stuart’s family.
He was a treasured brother in law that always had time to listen. We will always be grateful for his teaching us how to really treasure each Christmas present before opening. A shake a rattle a guess at what was inside! Forever loved and remembered ❤️
