It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our loving and devoted husband, Dad, Grampie and brother– David Michael Chupick, June 21, 2023, in Victoria, BC.
Survived by his love of 45 years, Sally Chupick. Cherished by his daughters and their families Holly and Jeff; Rachel and Matt, grandchildren Ella and Luke; Jane and Dave and his seven siblings and their families. Eldest son of Juliana and Michael Chupick.
We are finding comfort in the outpouring of love and memories shared by family, friends and colleagues of Dave’s from around the world.
A skilled craftsman in many trades who found joy and pride in his work and helping others.
David was a highly respected and decorated army veteran, serving 28 years in the Canadian Armed Forces before retiring from the military and working with Calian until final retirement in September 2022.
Remembered by those who loved him as loyal, generous, approachable, with a quiet and calm demeanor, and with high moral standards.

think of him.

Although I never had a chance to work directly with Dave I knew him by his reputation. That reputation appears to resonate clearly based on all the entries in this page of tributes from so many people I have known for decades and whose opinion/advice/knowledge I and many others respect. By these words alone Dave stands out from the crowd as a valued officer, citizen and family man. Please accept my sincere condolences for his untimely loss to family and friends.
I was so shocked to hear of Dave’s passing. He was one of the best. Our condolences go out to your family
It is with great sadness and a sense of disbelief that I heard the news of Dave’s passing. He was our RCPO in 1RCHA in Germany in the mid-eighties, and ever since it just seemed he had been aroung the Guns forever. He had a calmness and an infectious positive nature about him that seemed to make everybody around him better. He was one of the very best. I cannot imagine how hard this is on the Chupick family. It is to weep…

We served together as Directing Staff [ not at the same time] in Fort Frontenac and Dave was a “glass half full” optimist with an infectious smile and laugh. Always positive. A pleasure to be around.
I’m so sorry to hear of Dave’s sudden passing. It was great to see him at the cousins get together last year. He was always kind, fun and easy to talk to. Love and hugs to Sally, kids, grandkids and the whole Chupick clan. Love you xo
Rest Good Gunner Rest.
You have stood where Gods have stood
and rent the sky with thunder.
You have served the guns as heroes would
Till care was cast asunder.
So here now, rest one breathing space
Face proud the end of day.
You bowed not down lest done in grace
For that’s a Gunner’s way.
Rest, Good Gunner Rest,
turn cartridge case aside.
You served your Colours with the best
Now take your rest with pride.
Dear Sally, Holly, Jeff and family,
We are so saddened by the news of this sudden and shocking loss of your beloved husband/dad. We only had the privilege of spending that one evening with your family, but certainly remember him as a kind and friendly soul, who made others feel welcome and comfortable. As you remember him now and in the future, may his warmth and kindness bring you comfort and a smile to your heart. With much love and our deepest condolences. Penny, Carlo and Cory.
Dave’s sudden passing was a shock to us all. Sending heartfelt condolences to Sally and all of the Chupick family.
Janet and I send condolences to Sally, Holly, Rachel and Jane and the entire Chupick family and friends community. We all are shocked and saddened to have so suddenly lost such a terrific guy. When I first met Dave in uniform, I realized that he was a charismatic character and officer who embodied outstanding leadership qualities. He made us all better and for that we are grateful for having known him. RIP friend.
Dave was my CO at 2 RCHA in Petawawa and Cyprus, and still stands out in my memory as an excellent example to the officers of the regiment. His steady leadership and calm demeanour earned our respect and loyalty and it was always an honour to serve with him. This respect then carried forward to all the future encounters I had with him. He was indeed a fine officer, gentleman, and family man.
My thoughts and condolences to Sally and the family.
May he rest in peace.
